The Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia confirmed tonight that it shot down three cruise missiles in the vicinity of the city of Al-Kharj, on the sixth day of the war in the Middle East, which began after attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. "Three cruise missiles were intercepted and destroyed outside the city of Al-Kharj," the Ministry of Defense stated in a post on the social network X. Likewise, according to the official communiqué, air defense systems managed to neutralize the projectiles before they reached populated areas or strategic infrastructure in that city, located about 85 kilometers southeast of Riyadh, the capital. According to Noticias Argentinas agency, this incident occurred a few hours after an attack on the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia, carried out by drones originating from Iran, although it caused minor damage to the diplomatic headquarters. Saudi Arabia is one of the historic allies of the United States, and is therefore exposed to any retaliation from Iranian forces, whose authorities have already threatened to continue attacking various embassies of the Washington government, especially in the region where the conflict is currently unfolding.
