The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has called upon Muslims throughout the Kingdom to sight the crescent of the month of Shawwal on the evening of Wednesday, the 29th of Ramadan, corresponding to March 18, 2026. This was stated in a court announcement, the full text of which is as follows:Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his companions. After this:In light of the provisions of the Supreme Court's Resolution No. (204/H) dated 29/8/1447H, which stipulates that Wednesday, 1/9/1447H (according to the Umm al-Qura calendar), corresponding to February 18, 2026, is the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan 1447H, the Supreme Court calls upon all Muslims in the Kingdom to sight the crescent of the month of Shawwal on the evening of Wednesday, 29/9/1447H (according to the Umm al-Qura calendar), corresponding to March 18, 2026.The Supreme Court hopes that those who sight the crescent with the naked eye or through telescopes will report to the nearest court to them to register their testimony, or contact the nearest center to assist them in reaching the nearest court.The Supreme Court also hopes that those who are able to participate in the sighting will pay attention to this matter and join the committees formed in the regions for this purpose, and that they will be rewarded for their participation, as it involves cooperation for righteousness and piety, and the benefit for all Muslims.
