Videos shared on social media show smoke at the refinery and personnel evacuating the facilities. This crude oil refinery is one of the largest in the world and also houses one of the biggest terminals for oil export. On Monday, the spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, Turki al-Maliki, confirmed that one of Saudi Arabia's largest refineries, owned by Aramco and located in the port city of Ras Tanura, was struck by debris from two Iranian drones intercepted by Saudi air defenses, causing a fire at the facility. In a statement published by the official Saudi SPA agency, he noted that there are no civilian injuries from this incident. According to the Argentine News Agency, various regional media reported that due to the fire, the refinery halted its operations for security reasons, although Aramco has not yet issued any statement on this measure. Ras Tanura is located on the coast of the Persian Gulf, opposite Iranian territory.
