Saudi Arabia Breaks Ground on World's Largest Cube Building

Saudi Arabia has officially started construction on the world's largest cube-shaped building in Riyadh. The infrastructure, named The Mukaab, is set to reach up to 400 meters in height and cover 2 million square meters of floor space. This new structure will be a vibrant hub of connectivity and innovation, easily accessible via major roads.

The ambitious Mukaab project comes with a hefty price tag of about USD 50 billion and will be the focal point of New Murabba, an upcoming urban district spanning 25 million square feet and accommodating 104,000 homes. Cube-shaped buildings like The Mukaab are rare due to the unique land use demands they entail, making this project distinctive on a global scale, equivalent to 20 times the size of New York's iconic Empire State Building.

According to its official website, The Mukaab will feature immersive shopping, dining, and cultural experiences. Although cube-shaped monuments are not a common architectural choice, Saudi Arabia is no stranger to ambitious ventures, as seen with projects like the Jeddah Tower. Planned as the world's tallest skyscraper, the Jeddah Tower has been on hold since 2018.
