A Syrian woman regained her vision after suffering from multiple years of blindness due to an incorrect diagnosis in childhood.
Sara Dawood, a 37-year-old woman from Damascus, has faced vision problems since early childhood. Doctors mistakenly diagnosed her with glaucoma, which led to progressive vision loss. However, it was later revealed that she had a rare form of cataract, which could have been surgically corrected.
After surgery at one of the Turkish hospitals, conducted free of charge thanks to a charitable organization, Sara was able to see the world around her. She expressed gratitude to the doctors and everyone who helped her on this challenging journey.
"It’s like a miracle! I can see my children again, my mother's face, friends. It’s an incredible feeling, as if I was born again," Sara said after the operation.
Her case illustrates how important it is to have an accurate diagnosis and to find appropriate treatment to restore people's joy in communicating with the surrounding world.
