Increased Rheumatism Cases Among Youth

A doctor warns that untreated rheumatism can lead to severe complications and heart damage. Young people are increasingly diagnosed, risking heart defects. Early medical consultation is crucial.

Increased Rheumatism Cases Among Youth

Rheumatism is a debilitating condition that affects the connective tissues of the body and develops after infection with beta-hemolytic streptococci of group A. Although rheumatism is traditionally associated with components, its danger and complications can lead to damage to heart valves and the development of heart defects. Children and young people, who have a genetic predisposition, are most often affected. Doctors recommend consulting a physician in case of infection with infectious diseases and angina, as well as monitoring overall physical condition, avoiding overload and heavy burdens, and maintaining a balanced diet.

Dr. Ivan Yevrimkin, a cardiologist, notes that symptoms of rheumatism may appear 2-3 weeks after infection with bacteria. The main symptoms include fever, weakness, fatigue, joint pains, as well as pains and swelling in larger joints. In rheumatic heart disease, the patient may complain of pain in the area of the heart, frequent palpitations, and disruptions in its work, which can lead to the development of heart defects, often requiring surgical intervention.

Treatment of rheumatism includes the use of antibiotics from the penicillin group and anti-inflammatory drugs to suppress immune system activity and prevent complications. They are most commonly seen in children and young people, who often have recurring colds, weak immune systems, and incomplete treatment of infections, as this increases the risk of developing rheumatism.
