The Commissioner General of Hyderabad Police, where most victims are from, stated: "The tragic bus accident involving Indian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia is very painful." He added to journalists: "According to preliminary information, there were 46 people on the bus at the time of the accident, and unfortunately, only one person survived." The accident occurred as a result of a collision between their bus and an oil tanker while traveling from Mecca to Medina. Gaurav Obal, a senior official from Telangana state, told the Associated Press that 46 people were on the bus traveling from Mecca to Medina when it collided with an oil tanker on a highway. On Monday, Indian police announced that a bus accident in Saudi Arabia resulted in the deaths of 45 pilgrims.
