Saudi Arabia Changes Umrah Visa Rules

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announces new visa rules, including shorter validity and automatic cancellation for unused permits.

Saudi Arabia Changes Umrah Visa Rules

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has made some changes to the Umrah visa regulations. These changes include the cancellation of the visa if the pilgrim has not entered the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia within 30 days of its issuance. The decision will be implemented starting next week. The validity period of the visa will be reduced from three months to one month from the date of issuance. However, the duration of stay after the pilgrim's arrival in Saudi Arabia remains unchanged at three months. According to sources, Advisor to the National Committee for Umrah and Visits, Ahmed Bajifer, told 'Al Arabiya.net' that the decision, which will take effect next week, is part of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's preparations for the expected significant increase in the number of pilgrims, especially after the end of the summer season and the drop in temperatures in Mecca and Medina. This is to ensure that large numbers of pilgrims do not gather in the two holy cities at the same time.
