The international football portal "Football Insider" has confirmed that Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah will become the highest-paid player in the Saudi Professional League if he moves to "Al-Ahli" in the winter transfer window. Finance expert Stefan Borzen expressed surprise that "Liverpool" did not offer a large sum to retain "the Egyptian king" in their ranks, despite the fact that his contract expires on June 30 of next year.
Borzen noted that "Liverpool" appears to be in a weak position in negotiations over extending the contract with Mohamed Salah following a huge offer from "Al-Ahli" from Saudi Arabia. According to him, even if the contract is calculated for two years and amounts to 25 million pounds sterling per year, it would be a reasonable step for "Liverpool" considering his physical condition, with the possibility of a bonus in the event of a sudden drop in sports form and level of play.
Borzen added: "I think Salah has a better chance of leaving at the end of the season, receiving a decent sum in Saudi Arabia and becoming even richer than he is now". Salah has the option to negotiate with any team outside of England and leave without a transfer fee upon the conclusion of the contract. He has repeatedly stated that he believes the likelihood of his departure is higher than staying.
Media outlets, including the Saudi sports channel, reported that "Al-Ahli" offered Salah a huge sum of around 300 million riyals over two seasons with a capital for the 32-year-old leader of the national team of Egypt.
