Riyad to Host 2027 Asian Cup Final

King Fahd City Stadium in the capital Riyadh will host both the opening and final matches of the Asian Cup, scheduled for next year, as officials announced yesterday. This edition will serve as a key stop before Saudi Arabia hosts the 2034 World Cup. Saudi Arabia will host the Asian Cup from January 7 to February 5, 2027. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) stated in a statement from Kuala Lumpur: "King Fahd City Stadium will provide the backdrop for both the highly anticipated final and the opening match, which will feature the Saudi national team, the hosts and three-time Asian champions." The stadium, which has a capacity of over 70,000 spectators, will host four group stage matches in Riyadh, as well as a Round of 16 match, a quarter-final, and a semi-final in early February, according to the AFC. The stadium, popularly known as "The Tent" due to its roof inspired by the traditional Bedouin tent, is the largest among the eight stadiums that will host the continental tournament. Matches for the Asian Cup will also be held in Jeddah and Al-Khobar, where the AFC specified in its statement the number of matches each city will host. The AFC also clarified that the tournament's team pairings and kickoff dates will be determined during the final draw on April 1st next year in Riyadh.
