Canelo Álvarez Defeats William Scull in Riyadh

The famous Mexican boxer Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez achieved a victory this Saturday by defeating the Cuban William Scull by unanimous decision after twelve rounds. With this win, Álvarez added the 168-pound belt from the International Boxing Federation (IBF) to his titles from the WBA, WBC, and WBO. The fight took place at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the main event of the Fatal Fury evening.

The judges' scorecards reflected Álvarez's victory with scores of 115-113, 116-112, and 119-100. Although the Mexican managed to dominate, Cuban William Scull put up a tough resistance throughout the fight, demonstrating his worth in the ring. Scull, with a record of 23 victories, nine of them by knockout, managed to stay competitive despite Álvarez's precise punches.

From the early rounds, it was evident that Scull was avoiding close-range exchanges with 'Canelo', who was able to land effective punches when the Cuban neglected his defense. Starting in the fourth round, the Mexican boxer began to take the lead, pushing Scull against the ropes at various moments, although the Cuban slugger managed to withstand the punishment.

In the ninth round, 'Canelo' received a warning from the referee for a low blow to Scull, reflecting his frustration at his opponent's evasive responses. The last three rounds showed clear dominance from Álvarez on the scorecards, with the Mexican determined to increase his punch count while Scull demonstrated his resilience and determination.

After this decisive victory, Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez, with a record of 64 victories, is preparing for his next challenge, which will take place in September against Terence 'Bud' Crawford, another renowned boxer of today. Álvarez's career continues to ascend after being crowned as the undisputed champion at 168 pounds, adding another title to his successful boxing trajectory.
