The international terminal at Jeddah, which belongs to DP World, was opened after three years of reconstruction to establish a leading model of sustainable port operations. Alongside this project, DP World Global Investments invested in the development of a logistics complex in Jeddah spanning 415,000 square meters. This offering, thanks to the developed infrastructure, aims to enhance efficiency and flexibility in supply chains, opening new commercial opportunities for Saudi Arabia and beyond for many years to come.
The Jeddah international terminal plays a strategic role in regional trade, starting in 1999, becoming the first DP World facility outside the UAE. The expansion of the terminal strengthens our 25-year presence in Jeddah and reinforces our goal of stimulating trade in this region.
As part of the social-responsibility strategy, the terminal in Jeddah aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% over the next five years. To achieve this goal, measures have been taken to transition to electric systems for cranes and trucks, install solar panels, as well as consider innovative options for utilizing floating solar platforms and integrating water utilization systems.
The enhanced terminal in Jeddah integrates advanced automation and digitization systems to increase operational efficiency. Smart technologies allow for significantly reducing the time taken to process cargo at entry gates to 10 seconds and ensure accurate tracking of cargo through a tracking system of outgoing goods and automated inventory records.
The main goal of the new infrastructure is to increase the efficiency of cargo handling, which should be completed by mid-2026. This final phase of the terminal’s development lasts more than 30 years and emphasizes the strategic significance of Jeddah as a global trading hub, supporting the goals of Saudi Arabia’s "Vision 2030" program.
