
The International Calligraphy Festival, organized by "Khulya le fon and la Takafa" in the Al-Ula region of Saudi Arabia, highlights the rich heritage of Arabic calligraphy, merging the spirit of tradition with a contemporary artistic vision. It offers a unique multi-generational experience, showcasing the magnificence of eternal Arabic calligraphy through innovative artistic works, exhibitions, and live performances by 10 Arab artists presenting their striking and renewed creations amidst picturesque landscapes.
At the center of the exhibition is an interactive artwork "Love," created by the esteemed Sheikh Ahmad Khalifa Al-Suweidi, the wife of the highest Sheikh Takhnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the deputy ruler of Abu Dhabi and advisor on national security, presiding over "Khulya le fon and la Takafa" at the Tanturah Plaza in Al-Ula. This work reveals the enchanting beauty of poetry and Arabic calligraphy: in the process, 512 poetic lines are formed, highlighting the depth of Arabic literature and the wealth of the Arabic language in the tradition of heritage through renewed artistic vision and harmonious blending of literature and art.
The highest Sheikh Khula bin Ahmad Khalifa Al-Suweidi remarked, in an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), that the Arabic Calligraphy Festival in Al-Ula reflects a deep commitment to "Khulya le fon and la Takafa" to preserve our rich cultural heritage and present it in an innovative way by integrating Arabic calligraphy with contemporary art elements.
She stated: "We celebrate the beauty of this ancient art, expressing our cultural identity, and opening new horizons for interaction with the global community," emphasizing that the festival is not just an artistic event but a cultural journey, bridging the past and the present, connecting the old heritage with future vision.
She added: "We are pleased to be part of this event in Al-Ula, which is one of the most beautiful historical sites in Saudi Arabia, and we are confident that the festival will strengthen the position of Arabic calligraphy on the global stage and contribute to the development of cultural and creative exchange among different nations."
