The Minister of Economy of Argentina will meet tomorrow in a space that will provide the opportunity to exchange views on economic developments at the national, regional, and global levels. The International Monetary Fund explained that this meeting aims to discuss policies and reforms to promote inclusive prosperity and resilience supported by strong international cooperation.
Amid negotiations between the IMF and Argentina for a new agreement, the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, along with the president of the Central Bank, Santiago Bausili, are working on the details. The Government is confident that the discussions are close to conclusion, with some aspects pending to finalize the new program that will include new disbursements to increase the country's reserves.
The Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, held a meeting with the IMF director, Kristalina Georgieva, focused on the deregulation policies implemented in Argentina and the possibilities for global collaboration. Georgieva praised the Argentine official's efforts to deregulate the economy and create a favorable environment for the private sector.
The IMF director also highlighted Sturzenegger's participation in the new advisory council of the organization on entrepreneurship and growth, emphasizing his experience in reducing bureaucracy as invaluable. The Argentine official was appointed in January to be part of this council that aims to address an agenda of elimination and reform of economic regulations.
Georgieva had expressed in a prior opinion piece before the meeting that the world is watching the reforms taking place in Argentina, which are revitalizing the economy in an unprecedented way. The meeting between Sturzenegger and Georgieva took place within the framework of the Conference for Emerging Market Economies, which gathers financial leaders and policymakers from developing economies and was held in the city of AlUla, Saudi Arabia.
